About Dr Niall Davis
Dr Niall Davis is a graduate of University College Dublin, Ireland and undertook basic surgical training with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI). He completed his Higher Surgical Training in urology in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin in July 2017. He is currently on a urological fellowship in The Austin Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.
Dr Davis has also completed a PhD in tissue-engineering in the University of Limerick and has more than 80 publications in indexed medical journals. He teamed up with researchers Dr Rory Mooney and Professor Michael Walsh of the University of Limerick to help develop the transurethral catheter safety valve (TUCSV) for preventing traumatic transurethral
catheterisation. After winning the inaugural Cleveland Clinic/Enterprise Ireland Innovation award, Dr Davis continues to work with his biomedical engineering colleagues to commercialise the product.
